Peacefully with family by his side, Boris was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord on Monday, November 24, 2026 at the age of 86 at Arbor Creek LTC.
It brings us immense joy and comfort knowing he is reunited with his beloved son Taras (1994) and his precious grandson Wyatt (2020). Also pre deceased by his parents Volodmyr and Olha, his in-laws Myroslaw and Anna Samycia, sister-in-law Vera and brother-in-law Jaroslaw Samycia.
Beloved husband of Nadia for 57 wonderful years. Devoted father of Roman (Michelle), Andriy "Tex" (Jaimie) and the late Taras. Dido to his precious grandchildren Matthew, Megan, Hailey, Brayden, Isaac, Ethan and the late Wyatt. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada, USA and Ukraine.
Boris was born in Ukraine and immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada as a refugee from Germany in1949 at the age of 10, later settling in Hamilton in 1950 where he built his life. He was a certified electrical technologist, and later in life became a Teacher with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board; starting his career at Westdale Secondary and finishing his career at Glendale Secondary. Sir Boris, was very active as a Knight of Columbus; Grand Knight of the Fr. M Shashkevych Ukrainian Council #7464, and lifetime member of the 4th Degree of the Bishop Ryan Assembly #868.

Visitation on Monday, December 1, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street E., Hamilton. Panakhyda will be at 7:30 PM, followed by a Knights of Columbus Service. Funeral Service Parastas will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Private family burial at Queen's Lawn Cemetery, Grimsby. If desired, donations in Boris’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Ukrainian Social Services- Hamilton Branch.
