Charlene Edith Bowles

October 20, 1953November 1, 2019

At the Juravinski Hospital, Charlene lost her valiant battle with bone marrow cancer in her 66th year. Survived by her beloved husband Eddy Brown and lifelong friend Kathy Reid. Charlene was predeceased by her father, William Bowles, her mother, Iris Bowles and her brother, William Bowles Jr. Charlene will be sadly missed by her family, and many friends, including those in the Garth Trails Community where she spent the last nine years volunteering in many positions. Charlene was most happy in “any” kitchen and enjoyed several years running her own businesses in Burlington, namely, Mrs. Vanelli’s and Grandma Lee’s. Charlene was an inspiration to the many health care providers who cared for her during the past six years at Juravinski Cancer Centre and Juravinski Hospital Oncology Day Services. She never gave up hope, her sense of humour or her fabulous sense of style. She always worried about others rather than herself and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brian Leber and Debbie Valiquette and the many, many nurses who spent their days caring for Charlene with such kindness, compassion and empathy. Special thanks to friends, Sandra, Linda and Ruth who spent many hours with Charlene in ODS. If desired, as an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Charlene made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated. Cremation has taken place, private family internment at St. Jude’s Cemetery in Oakville to follow.

Charlene, I will sure miss our phone calls, emails and lunches together.
You were always so thoughtful. Whenever you came to our place for lunch you brought flowers.
It was so sad to see you suffer. You never complained. I said you would never know you were sick. You always looked so beautiful. You said "Just because I'm sick it doesn't mean I can't look good!!"

Love you dear friend, Lorna

I'm sorry for your loss. Charlene was a lovely person. She will be greatly missed by all her friends. I remember the conversations and laughter we shared at Stage West. We all enjoyed getting together and watching the performances. My most recent memories are meeting Charlene for lunch with Phyllis and Lorna.
My deepest sympathy, Donna
