Christine Wasiuta (nee Dziamba)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Christine, in her 96th year. Surrounded by her family, she peacefully left us Monday, August 31, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Reunited with her loving husband Paul (1977). Beloved mother of Anne (Guntis Loja) and Mary (Guy Gelinas). Proud and devoted Baba of Neil and Paul Gelinas, of Vancouver. Christine will be remembered as a true matriarch, committed especially to her family, friends and church. She leaves a legacy of love, generosity and an example of bearing up under difficulty with faith and grace. This gentle woman touched the lives of so many by being a giving, thoughtful, loving and wonderfully devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. Special thanks to the staff at Extendicare Hamilton for caring for our mother. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice or an act of kindness to an older person would be greatly appreciated. Visitation at Markey Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St. E. (at Kenilworth), on Friday, September 4th from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Panachyda at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 5th at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church, 8 St. Olga Street. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
