OBITUARY

Darlene Diane Tylee

13 September, 1949 – 30 April, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Darlene Tylee (née Bourque), who gently left this world surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the age of 76 in Hamilton, Ontario.

Above all, Darlene cherished her family. She will be deeply missed by her best friend and beloved husband of 56 years, Garnet, whose partnership and love were the foundation of her life. She was a proud and loving mother to Michelle (Rick) and Shawn (Chantelle), and an adoring nana to her grandchildren Kyra, Toren, Rachel, Jessica, Ella, and her step-grandchildren Caden, Keira, Kylie, and Kaelyn, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Darlene is also survived by her siblings Russell and Lynnette. Predeceased in death by her parents (Herman and Anne Bourque), as well as her sister (Marilyn) and brother (Jim).

Darlene was a devoted and passionate educator who spent many years teaching Geography with the Hamilton District School Board at both Delta Secondary School and Barton Secondary School. She also taught Cosmetology at Briarwood School. Darlene had a remarkable ability to inspire curiosity and a love of learning in her students.

Darlene will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and dedication. Her warm and vibrant personality lit up a room the moment she entered it. Darlene’s compassion, humour, and genuine care for others made people feel welcomed and valued, and she left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She also built a strong and enduring circle of friends who meant so much to her, and she treasured the time spent with them through years of shared laughter, conversations, card games, and memories. Her friendships were a true source of joy in her life, and she remained deeply connected to those she cared about. Darlene's legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. Her warmth and light will continue to shine through the love she shared, the memories she created, and the countless hearts she has forever impacted.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors at St. Joseph’s Healthcare and Hamilton General Hospital for their compassionate care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca) or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca) would be appreciated by the family.

A private family service will be held, with a Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date.

Love you always and forever!
