It was an honour to have known Denise for several years and witnessed her passion for improving the lives of others. What an example she set for everyone. May we remember her message and do her proud by advocating for change and helping the inner city residents that she championed.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear that our friend Denise had died. To Jesse, her mother and siblings please accept my condolences. I had the honour of working with Denise as a colleague and on the Association of Ontario Health Centres Board. Denise taught me so much, first with her words and more importantly with her actions. First class friend, colleague and mentor. I will miss her.

I am so sadden by the sudden passing of Denise. She was a mentor to me, as well as a role model. She showed me how to look at things through the eyes of a person of color. Being a black women in charge, came with a whole lot more hurdles to overcome than I could have ever imagined. I learned so much from her. She was patient - to a point - and always managed to make me laugh. I just loved her sense of humour. She could handle a lot of serious stuff before she showed any signs of stress. I wish Hamilton Urban Core CHC was in its new home, in a new building; she worked so hard for that. Once the new Centre is build please make a special place for Denise in there...
