

Predeceased by his beloved wife of 26 years, Bessie, parents Aiden and Bridget, sister Mildred, brothers John, Lar, Peter, Philip, Gus and Aiden.
Survived by many cherished family members, sisters Helen (Stephenville, NL) and Mary (St. John's, NL), sisters-in-law Edna and Geraldine (St. Vincent's, NL), and many beloved nieces, nephews and other family. Also by his stepson Scott (Margaret) Gardiner, and step-grandchildren Ben and Kyle (Calgary, AB). Born in Newfoundland, Dermot moved to Hamilton in 1951. He was a dedicated employee at Dofasco for 36 years. He was very proud of his Newfoundland roots and kept in close touch with family 'back home'. He was a voracious reader, preferring books about history and politics, while always enjoying a friendly debate on current events. He was a devout Catholic with a deep love of his faith.
