Devoted father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend, Donald was born on May 13, 1952 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. His father Frederick worked as what was then called a Federal Indian Agent for the Ministry of Indian Affairs and as a result Don and his siblings moved many times during childhood, living in and near First Nations reserves all over Ontario. In 1977, Don met the love of his life, Elizabeth, and they were married on May 17, 1980. Soon after, Don and Elizabeth set out on creating together, first with daughters Morgan in 1981 and Blair in 1982 as well as their production company, Beulah films, also in 1982. Don would go on to have an incredibly extensive career as a cameraman and director of photography - eventually having looked at much of the world through his lens, for countless, productions in television and film.
Don lived a fast paced, exciting, career full of friends, colleagues and adventures as he travelled the world extensively in his career. Though he was never happier than when he was home with Elizabeth, hosting a delicious meal for friends and family, always with an abundance of laughter, good music, and great stories. Preferably, after 18 holes of golf.
Donald will forever be loved and missed by his wife Elizabeth and daughter Blair (Michael), son in law Mark as well as his grandchildren, his siblings: Barron (Gayle), Pamela (Eddie), Kerry (Lauren), Norah (Larry), Shelagh (Greg) and sister in law Patricia Glover, The Manzato family and his friend and golf partner John Luna, as well as his many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and his countless friends and golf buddies.
