Donna Kathleen McKinnell

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Donna is survived by her loving husband, Murray McKinnell of almost 67 years and her children Kathryn (Ken), Nancy and Brian (Marlene). Grandmother to Andrew (Jenna ) , Erin (Stephen) ,Lisa (Josh) and Reed (Melissa). Great grandmother to Paige, Gavin and Amelia.

Donna was born in St. Thomas but grew up in Fort Erie Ontario. She moved to Hamilton to attend Nursing School at the Hamilton General Hospital where she graduated in 1954. She met Murray on a blind date, New Year’s Eve 1953 and they have been together ever since.

Donna was an amazing baker and shared platefuls of goodies, especially at Christmas. She enjoyed working with her hands sewing, knitting, crocheting and doing crafts. Family members were often the recipients of these handmade creations. She was a volunteer with the Girl Guides for many years. She and Murray travelled extensively enjoying the sights and meeting new people. She was also an avid curler at the Glanford Curling Club. Her front porch was always open to neighbours for chats and coffee. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and one time even did somersaults with them. Donna enjoyed hosting family celebrations cooking many, many turkeys over the years, always with a smile on her face. Her favourite past time was sitting with Murray, even as he spent endless hours flipping through the sports channels. Family was the most important part of her life. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennel Ave., Hamilton Ontario from 1-4 PM.
