

ANDERSON, Dorrie (Dorothy Ethel) "Akela" At the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice on Friday, December 14, 2007 following a brief and valiant battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Bob and devoted mother to her children and their spouses; Joan and Tom Kott, Bonnie Anderson and Dave Hamilton, Larry and Carol Anderson, Gordon and Donna Anderson. Cherished and loved by grandchildren Samantha, Michael and Christine, Jeremy, Daniel and Heather, Jennifer and Steve, Eric, Alexander; great-granddaughters Kaitlyn and Gabriela. Predeceased by parents Alfred and Marjorie Hawkins, brothers Clyde, Bob and sister Francis. Survived by brothers Alfred, Jim and sister Eva. Dorrie was a dedicated community leader involved in Scouts Canada for over 44 years. "Akela" of the 1st Mount Hope Cub Pack and advisor to 1st Mount Hope Beaver Colony. Dorrie was the moving force for the annual Terry Fox Marathon of Hope in Mount Hope. She dedicated herself to community causes and faithfully organized and supported collection for the Cancer Assistance Program. Dorrie was the community "Avon Lady" for over 48 years. Visitation at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Saturday, December 15th from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, December 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services at Mount Hope United Church on Monday, December 17th at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
