Edward James Baldry

March 13, 1949August 9, 2019

Edward James Baldry, Suddenly on Friday August 9, 2019 at Juravinski Hospital, after a brief illness, Ed slipped away surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of Judith for 46 years, and much-loved father to Stacey, and Sean and Diem. Adored Grandpa to Caitlin and Ryan. Predeceased by his parents Ernest (1977) and Edna (1988) and brother Allen (2012). Survived by his brother Richard (Lana) of Wasaga Beach and his twin Michael (Margaret) of Collingwood, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ed worked as an automotive painter until 1976 when he was hired at Stelco, retiring in 2004. He loved travelling, The Three Stooges, military history and was a life- long Maple Leafs fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially in Hawaii in 2018.

We wish to thank Dr. Shum and Dylan, Carol and Kevin in ICU for their efforts and kindness. Special thanks to Brian Tran, Judi's "posse" (Dana, Heidi and Kris) and Sean and Alica Jackson. Cremation has taken place.

My deepest condolences to you and your family, Stacey and Judith. I did not know Edward in person but loved hearing stories of your trips out to the East Coast. Take comfort and strength from your family members and find peace in the memories of the times that you had together. Thinking of you.

I have so many memories but the one that keeps surfacing is one from the beginning of my sister's life with Ed. Ed, Judi , myself and our parents went out on Lake Simcoe with Dad's boat. Dad ended up in an area with a rocky shoal and he was worried that he had damaged his motor's blades. Ed was to hold the engine up while Dad checked it out. Now Dad was a smoker and always wore a straw fedora. As he leaned on the motor, Ed lost his grip and Dad sailed off into the lake. Ed looked terrified as Mom screamed out "George". The water was shallow and Dad stood up with his hat still on and cigarette in his mouth. The laugh that came out of Ed then was so boisterous and infectious, no-one could be mad. There was many a chuckle over the years whenever that was mentioned. Ed, you will be missed but I will always hear that laugh whenever I think of you.

Ed has left us with so many memories. When he would come to Nova Scotia with Judy to visit the extended family. Fishing with the boys. The great times that Mom and Dad shared with Ed, Judy and Aunt Isabel. The teasing I got from him on my wedding day.
Ed's laugh, sense of humour and fun were memorable and he will be greatly missed but fondly remembered.
Judy, Sean and Stacey, all of our family, MacNeill, Latta and MacPherson are sending you our love, thoughts and prayers.

Love, Aunt Annie, Shane, Darlene, Shelly and Garnet

Dear Judy and family, I'm so sad to see the original Mayor of East 12th leave us. He was our welcome party on the street over 30 years ago and seemed to return to his old jovial and chatty self in the past few months His last conversations with us consisted of proud conversations about his children and grandchildren and oddly enough a sentimental memory of our dear late Jimmy. We'll miss him so much! He was a friend to all of us full of advice and funny remarks. The street will be little less fun without him!!! Love from Leona and Joan Kemp . Also Condolences from Peter Downey

One of my favourite memories of Ed is his terrific sense of humor and his great smile. It was my pleasure meeting him. God bless you my friend. We will meet again someday.
