Elsie Irene West

Beloved wife of the late Bob West (2001). Mother of Michael (Cathy), Denise D'Orazio and Derek (Fran). Grammie of many grandchildren and will be fondly remembered by Trevor and Megan (Rob). Great-grammie of several great-grandchildren. She had a special relationship with her great-grandchildren Thomas and Margaret Smith. Elsie is survived by her sister Kathleen McMullen and her sister-in-law Arlene (David) Stacey. She will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Elsie was an employee with Elections Canada while raising her three children, then with Sears for several years as a Catalogue Sales Representative. She was a longtime member, along with her husband Bob, of the HOG (Harley Owners Group). They travelled all over Canada and the US on their motorcycle. In her retirement, she volunteered with Conway Opportunity Homes. Elsie was known for being the main organizer for all of the functions! She loved swimming with her "Gentle Stretch" group and enjoyed the many luncheons. Elsie will be greatly missed by those who loved and cared for her.

Cremation has taken place. Please join us for a celebration of life that will be held at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East, Hamilton on Thursday, May 14, 2026 starting at 3 p.m., with a tribute being held at 4:30 p.m., followed by light refreshments. She will be laid to rest with her husband Bob at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. If so desired, memorial donations to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
