Emilio D'Ortenzio

Peacefully, on Sept 16th, 2015 at the Juravinski Hospital, in his 67th year. Emilio leaves behind his wife Anne; his son Michael and his wife Sheri and their son Tristan who called his Nonno his best friend; his daughter Kathryn and her husband Marco, his mother Caterina, his brother Sam and his wife Lori and their sons Robert, Daniel, Andrew, Mathew, David and Brian. Emilio was predeceased by his father Michele in January 2012. He also will be mourned by his many cousins and extended family in Canada and in Italy as well as his large circle of friends who were like family to him. In his last weeks, Emilio had the joy of knowing that he would be a grandfather for the second time, as Kathryn and Marco await their first child. Emilio was a well-respected lawyer in Hamilton whose diligent efforts on his clients’ behalf will be missed. On Sunday, Sept 20th, 2015, visitation will take place from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St. E Hamilton, with prayers at 3pm. The Funeral Mass will take place at 11am on Monday Sept 21st, 2015 at St. Eugene’s Roman Catholic Church, Hamilton. It was Emilio’s wish to be cremated and to have a private family service at a later date to entomb his ashes in the D’Ortenzio family mausoleum in the town of his birth, Castiglione a Casauria, province of Pescara, Abruzzi, Italy. As a thank you to the caring doctors and staff, the family would appreciate donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre in Emilio’s memory.
