It is with profound sadness that the family of Eugenia Szpiech announce her peaceful passing on March 15, 2024, in her 92nd year. She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Edward and her sister Veronica. Proud mother of Henry (Giedra) and Ted (Jeannette). Loving babcia to Laura (Joseph) Figliola, Michael, and Danielle (Eric) Simmons. Loving prababcia to Julia, Noah, Amelia and Jack. Loving aunt to Richard, Anne, Chester, Stan, Marysia, Alice and Christopher. Will be fondly remembered by great nephews and nieces in Canada, the United States and Poland.
She loved travelling and gardening, but her true passion was cooking and baking. She always looked forward to the next celebration and occasion to bring family and friends together. Her pierogi, cabbage rolls and patyczky were her granchildren’s favourites. She loved to dance and sing at Polish picnics, dances and had fond memories of socializing with all of her friends over the years in the New Horizons Polish Seniors Club. Friends and neighbours became family and extensions of her circle of those she loved. Eugenia was a woman of strength, laughter and compassion, and her loving heart and warm smile was contagious.
Many thanks to Dr. Curnew, Dr. Caronzo, and the amazing and caring nurses and doctors at the Hamilton General Hospital.
At Eugenia’s request, a private family service has been held, with entombment at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery.
If so desired, memorial donations can be made to the Hamilton General Hospital or the Kidney Foundation.
