Predeceased by her parents Mary and Frank Panek. Predeceased by her husband Michael Borsc and by her son Edward Borsc. Survived by her daughter-in-law Andrea Borsc. Loving Baba of Paul (Kiki) and Mitch (Ally). Dear sister of Alois (the late Melva) Panek, aunt to Brad (Stacy) Panek and great aunt to Brody. Born in Trstena (the former Czechoslovakia), Frances emigrated to Canada with her parents in 1933 where the family settled in Coleman, Alberta for her father’s work in the coal mines. Frances had many careers and moved many places in her lifetime, finally settling in Hamilton with her husband Michael. Proud of her Slovak roots, Frances was the family’s matriarch, taking care of her younger brother, her father, her son, her grandkids and the rest of the family as she was able. Frances will always be remembered as hard-working, funny, feisty, and fierce. She loved baking, cooking, dancing, gardening, and traveling the world. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation, admiration and gratitude to all the staff at Macassa Lodge in Hamilton for taking care of and making Frances comfortable in her final years. Friends and family will be received at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Tuesday, August 6th from 5-8 pm. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 7th at 1pm in the chapel. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
