
At the Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, George passed away on July 7, 2014 at the age of 84 years after a long valiant struggle with ill health. Born in Hamilton, he lived most of his life there and in the surrounding area, including Fisherville, Canfield and Glancaster. After the death of Evelyn, his cherished and beloved wife of 55 years in 2005, George moved to St. Jacobs in 2007 to reside with his oldest daughter, Lynda. A devoted father who will be greatly missed by his children George (Linda), Lynda, Michael (Patty), Bryan, and Sheila (Ron) Howarth. Dear Grandfather to 8 grandchildren. Survived by much loved brothers Richard and John (Teresa) and sister Caroline (Glenn) Bowman. Fondly remembered by brother-in-law Bill Fife and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter Marna and granddaughter Kari. Also predeceased by parents, George and Ada and sister Mary (Bill) Fife. George loved life, family, friends and numerous furry companions, and fishing adventures. He enjoyed a fulfilling decades long membership with the St. John’s Lodge A.F. & A.M., No. 35, G.R.C. (Cayuga, ON). After 32 years of service with Procter & Gamble, he enjoyed fun times with friends in P & G’s Soapworkers Retirement Club and as a 31 year member of The Royal Canadian Legion. Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Thursday, July 10 from 7 – 9 pm. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Friday, July 11 at 11 a.m. Entombment in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Hamilton. Donations in his memory to the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA, Covenant House or the Canadian Wildlife Federation would be appreciated by the family.
