It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of George Matijasevich on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the age of 92. George was the beloved husband of Kay (nee Gojsich) for 70 years, who, with the support of their family, lovingly cared for him at home until his last day. Cherished dad of Michael (Glenna), Susan (Michael) Bradica, and John (Susanne). Proud and ever-loving grandpa of David (Rujipa), Marissa (Joel), Katie, Meaghan, Luke, Mark, Nicole (Ryan), Melanie (Nik), Mary-Kate, and adoring great-grandpa of Ella, Ben and Eva. Predeceased by his parents, Mike and Ana Matijasevich and his beloved sister Rose (Peter) Kolich. His nephew, nieces, cousins, in-laws and extended family were also so very close to his heart. George’s deep and beautiful faith, and his family who he loved beyond words, were truly his world. He was also blessed with many dear friends in the Croatian community, many of whom he bowled and golfed with for several wonderful years. George was also a dedicated member of St. Eugene’s parish for over fifty years. Special thanks to his neighbour, Spring, Dr. Jill Roberge, and Fr. Marko Stefanec, who were so compassionately there for him during his final hours. Visitation at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St., E., Hamilton, on Thursday, August 18 from 2-4 and 5-8 pm. Rosary at 5:00 pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, August 19, at 10:00 am at St. Eugene’s Church, 232 Queenston Rd, Hamilton. Burial to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery in Stoney Creek. In lieu of flowers, Mass Cards, a donation to St. Eugene’s Church, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
