Giedre is predeceased by her dear son Kazimieras (April 28, 2000) and her beloved husband, also Kazimieras (April 14, 2015). Her loss is grieved by her surviving daughter Vida, and many family and friends in Hamilton, London and Toronto.
She was born in Lithuania in 1937 and spent her early childhood playing on her grandparents farm and in the surrounding woods. When WWII arrived in Lithuania, she and her family fled to a Germany refugee camp. In the 1940’s, the assorted family of uncles, aunts, cousins, some siblings, with her parents, came to Canada to farm in Thunder Bay. She later went to nursing school in Toronto. She worked for many years in pediatric wards, a job she loved. She was a lover of the Arts, and was a passionate author and artist. Giedre was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes CWL and the Catholic Lithuanian Women’s Guild.
