Beloved husband of Rigoletta (Nina) for 65 years. Loving father of Marianna Mitchell, Joseph, Angelo, Nick (Susan), Antonietta and Maria. Cherished Nonno of Brianne, Mark, John and Nicole. Great-Nonno of Malani, Jackson, Ava and Jack. Predeceased by his sisters Antonietta Mungo and Nicolina Battaglia. Giovanni will be sadly missed by numerous extended family and friends in Italy and Canada. Retired employee of Slater Steel after 35 years of dedicated service. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of 8 West at the Hamilton General Hospital for their exceptional care. Visitation at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene's Roman Catholic Church (Parkdale and Queenston) on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 10 am. Entombment Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. Donations in Giovanni's memory may be made to Good Shepherd Centre or Salvation Army.
