Greta Mae Craven

Greta Mae Craven (nee Karlas) With sadness the family announces the passing of Greta Mae Craven on Friday, December 4, 2015 in her 87th year. Wife of the late William Kemp Craven and sister of Rose Holloway. Loving mother of Allen (Su), Rick (Suzanne), Judy Lane (Chris) and Karen Adkins (Randy). Dear grandmother of Ryan, Scott, Cassie, Crystal, Brett, Tatum, Jenny and Zachary. Great-Grandmother of 11. Greta was our family cheerleader. We will be forever grateful for her sacrifices and support. She cherished the role of mother. She was artistic, energetic, enthusiastic and caring. In her youth she balanced family responsibilities with many years in retail service particularly at Kresge’s, Booth’s Hobbies and Toys, The Dandi-Lion Boutique and later running her own costume store known as Janal Creations. She was also a big supporter of the naval veterans helping to organize many dances for the Hamilton Club during the 60s. She loved sports and followed many teams including the Tiger Cats and Blue Jays. The family will receive friends at St. John’s United Church, 195 East 38th St. in Hamilton on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m.
