Hank Matthews

Hank passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Juravinski/Henderson Hospital on Monday November 24th in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Marilyn Matthews (Holden) for 52 years. Born in Toronto but living most of his life in Hamilton, Hank was happiest spending time with his loving wife and the rest of his family, helping people with countless acts of kindness and cheering his beloved Leafs, Blue Jays and Argonauts with a hot dog in his hand. He kept it simple, was always kind and blessed us all with his optimism. Hank will be lovingly remembered by his children Jim Matthews (Catherine Marshall) and Jon Matthews (Monique). Dear Papa to Cheryl, Michael (Sarah L), Sarah and Ryan and lovingly remembered by Meredith and Tommy. Beloved brother in law to John and Carole Holden and loved uncle of Dan (Crystal) and Greg, Doug (Nicole) and Michele (Jerry) from BC. Predeceased by his brothers Bob and Fred and sister Florence, Hank will also be missed by many cousins. Special thanks to the team at the March of Dimes who provided wonderful care for Hank for many years. Friends will be received at TRUSCOTT, BROWN & DWYER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1309 King Street East, Hamilton, Ontario from 6-8 pm on Wednesday November 26th and 3-5 pm on Thursday November 27th. Funeral will be held at 11 am on Friday November 28th at St. Stephens on the Mount, 625 Concession Street Hamilton followed by internment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Burlington.
