Helen Thomson Ferster

Helen Thomson Bayne was born in Leslie Fife, Scotland and migrated to Canada a year later with her parents and 12 siblings (one more brother was born in Canada).

“Ella”, as she was known to her family, grew up in Nova Scotia just north of Antigonish. She fondly remembered life on the farm and getting into ‘pickles’ with her sister Ina. After WWII, she moved to Hamilton, Ontario where she met her soon-to-be husband Albert and started raising her family shortly thereafter. Helen was known to be very friendly and loving by all who met her. Family was always a top priority and taking care of her grandchildren was her greatest joy. Very social and at times competitive, Helen enjoyed a good game of cards but was known to bend the rules from time to time, much to the amusement of her children and grandchildren. She was immensely proud of her family and touched many lives with her warmth and caring.

Helen was predeceased by her parents John and Agnes Bayne, 13 siblings and beloved husband, Albert Ferster.

She is survived by her loving children Rick (and Lesa) Ferster of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Sharon (and Mike) Meyers of Aurora, Ontario; Donna (and Ray) Chaput of Barrie, Ontario; Jamie (and Edwin Frizzell) Ferster of Toronto, Ontario.

Her 7 grandchildren : Jehna (and Jason) Marshall of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Lori (and Landyn) Dow of Davidson, North Carolina, Danika (and Matt) Howeth of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Mark (and Kayleigh) Chaput of Toronto, Ontario, Derek (and Ilona) Meyers of Southampton, Ontario, Cheryl (and Mitch) Patenaude of Ottawa, Ontario, and Christa Chaput of Ottawa, Ontario.

Her 9 great-grandchildren : Cooper and Scott, Finnley, Brynnley and Beckett, Emma, Breanna and Raya, and Luke.

There are many other family members, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends that will sadly miss her. Thank-you for your thoughts and prayers.

There will be no visitation or funeral service as per her request. Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
