Helen Louise Thornborrow

Surrounded by her loving family after a long, courageous battle with leukemia, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Helen on May 15, 2012 in her 79th year. Loving wife of Robert and much loved and treasured mother of Susan and husband Brian, Janice and Jim, and Brad and wife Laurie. Cherished grandma to Stuart (Icarus), Jessica (Alex), Carly and Kyle. She will be dearly missed by her beloved sister and best friend Bev (the late Gerry), her sister Avis and husband Gord, her “bestest” friend Kay and husband Newt and also friend Penny and husband Gerry. Helen will be missed by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom’s battle was filled with endless courage, stubborn determination, the ability to turn sadness into laughter and her incredible willpower to live and not miss a thing! We would like to thank the amazing people at Shalom Retirement Village for their wonderful care and compassion. Mom thought the world of all of you! Also, The Meadows Nursing Home in Ancaster for their wonderful care. Also, our family would like to send a special thank you to the entire staff of B3 at the Juravinski Hospital and Doctor Kouroukis. Your compassion and concern for mom was outstanding! Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME UPPER JAMES CHAPEL (1020 Upper James Street, Hamilton) on Thursday, May 17th from 6-9p.m. A celebration of Helen’s life will take place on Friday, May 18th at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated.
