

Born on August 15th, 1931, Ivan is survived by his wife of 70 years, Yvonne Holder (nee D’Andrade), daughter Sonia Holder, sons Michael Anthony Holder (Blanca) and Brian Holder (Antonio), grandson Michael Ivan Holder, and granddaughter Stephanie Holder (Kurdi). He was the son of Hilbert Ivelaw Holder and Olga Holder (nee Gullen), and his siblings were June DaSilva (nee Holder - deceased), Maurice Holder (deceased), Shirley Degoes (nee Holder), and Wendy Buchan (nee Holder).
A doting father and grandfather, and generous family provider, Ivan was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, grew up in British Guiana, and then returned to Venezuela where he raised his family while working for the Shell Oil Company. Upon retirement in 1991 he and his wife immigrated to Canada, settling in Hamilton, Ontario. Tennis was his lifelong passion, always following the sport avidly and winning many major tournaments in his native country. After moving to Canada he particularly excelled at woodworking without having had any previous training. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Cremation and a private service will be held, with a celebration of life to follow later.
