We announce with immense sadness that our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother has passed away on Easter Sunday at Idlewyld Manor in Hamilton. Born in Hungary, Irene was predeceased by her four infant brothers, being the first surviving child of Regina and Antal Virag. Irene was 15 years old when she became her family’s sole breadwinner upon her father’s death at age 46. In 1956, Irene and her husband Laszlo escaped during the Hungarian Revolution with their daughters Irene and Ildiko. They lived briefly in Ireland where their first son, Les, was born. Settling finally in Canada, son Sandor was born. Irene worked as a shipper for Permalite Industries, a division of Susan Shoes prior to working in the family business, Countryside Flowers and Country Gardens. Irene was a very hard-working, honest, loving person who in turn, was well-loved by all those who knew her. Predeceased in Hamilton in 1995 by husband of 42 years, Laszlo, and also by brother Jozsef, sisters Regina, Katalin and Viktoria, all of Hungary. Irene is survived by her four loving children Irene Milanovic of Ottawa, Ildiko Boudine and Jean-Pierre of France, Les and Donna, Sandor and Moira.
