Iva was married at Holy Trinity Church, St. Philip, Barbados and is survived by the love of her life and husband of 64 years, Leon. She leaves behind her daughter, Annette (Trenton) of St. Philip, Barbados; her son, Ian of Hamilton, Ontario; her daughter, R. Fiona (Michael) of Cambridge, Ontario, and son, Allan (Maria) of Regina, Saskatchewan. Iva will be remembered by her beloved grandchildren: Marie and Michael Warner, Philip and Alana Weekes, Micaela and Mitchell Devonish.
Iva is predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Ardene Kirton, her brother George Clarke and her sisters Elza Clarke and Evelyn Lorde, all of Barbados, as well as her sister Enid Blades of England. Iva will be remembered by many family and friends near and far especially her sister Muriel Kirton of St. Philip, Barbados, as well as her former daughter-in-law Jackie Warner and her dear friends Gloria Charles and Rachel Macharia, all of Hamilton.
Special appreciation to the pastoral staff at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, whose prayers, cards and visits kept Iva’s light shining for over 50 years. Many thanks to the doctors and staff at the Village of Wentworth Heights who took great care of Iva for the last 3 years. Special thanks to Judith Rawlins for her unwavering support and commitment to Iva. Acknowledgement to Iva’s friends at T.O.P.S. with whom she collected badges and travelled extensively.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 from 6-9 pm at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Ave E, Hamilton. A memorial service of thanksgiving will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 at 1 pm at St. Michael’s Anglican Church, 1188 Fennell Ave E. Hamilton.
