

Passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 80. Loving husband of Marija for 60 years. Devoted father of Mira (pre-deceased), Mary Ann (Tihomir) Sertic and Michael (Daniela). Cherished Didi of Jessica (Brent), Rebecca, John and Gordon. Ivan is pre-deceased by his parents Mile and Anka and his in-laws Josip and Tonka Perkovic. Brother-in-law to Ivan (Ljuba) Perkovic, Zora (Josip) Drazenovich, Mile (Vera) Perkovic and Vlado Perkovic (pre-deceased). He will be missed by his nieces and nephews Mary (Mladen) Sokolov & family, Ann Drazenovich & family, Tom Perkovic, Vlado (Molly) Perkovic & family, and cousins Grga and Ivo Sertic and Mile (Katica) Mesic. Born in Brinje, Croatia, Ivan came to Canada in 1966 and worked in the McIntyre Gold Mines for 7 years in Timmins. He then moved to Hamilton where his family joined him and worked at Dofasco for 33 years and was a part of the Railroad Gang until his retirement. Ivan was a proud hardworking Lican, who enjoyed vacationing, smoking meats, wine making, and his backyard. A jovial and social soul, he will be missed by all.
Due to COVID-19, all events are restricted to a specified number of attendees, there is no registration required. Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Monday from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with Rosary at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Church, 1883 King Street East, on Tuesday March 1, 2022 at 10 a.m. Interment Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. Donations in Ivan’s memory may be made to Holy Cross Church.
