I remember Jim from family gatherings and dinners when his sister Mary would visit. He always had a twinkle in his eye and his sense of humor made these gatherings so much more interesting and meaningful. 

We would like to send our condolences to Jim’s family.  Jim was an extremely dedicated person who gave huge amounts of himself  to our community and to the environment.  We worked with Jim in so many ways over the years, with issues, with organizations and around events.  Jim’s contributions to Hamilton served us all and the environment in a fashion that was unmatched.  For years working with Jim at Green Venture, at City Hall and around so many other environmental programs and campaigns made knowing him a pleasure and a privilage!

My condolences to Jim's family and friends.
Jim was a keen hiker, and a strong Bruce Trail Conservancy supporter.  In later years he was heavily involved in  BTC  Land Stewardship...which is a  programme  to preserve BTC properties, and thereby ensure ongoing public access to the Bruce Trail and the Niagara Escarpment, for this and future generations. Jim inspired me to get more active in this work, which I continue today. We will miss his energy and wise counsel.
 

Our city & the environmental community will be that much poorer with Jim's passing.  I served, with Jim, on a number of committees and always appreciated  
the experience, wisdom and good humor that he brought to each meeting.  He will be missed.  Ollie Thomson

I knew Jim from the First Unitarian Church of Hamilton.  He was part of our senior's group and I would pick him up from Caroline Place to bring him to events.  I always enjoyed being with him, he was a real gentleman, and interesting to talk to.  Whenever I saw Jim at Caroline Place he was always busy taking part in the exercise program or hovering over the jigsaw puzzle.  I am really going to miss him!!   Charlie Pond

Hello Ken, Dan, Sandi, Cam and all,

I am grateful to have met Jim, both in person and through things I learned in conversation with Ken. He struck me as someone who was "ahead of his time," often exploring and trying things that were outside of mainstream awareness or practice.  For this and many other things, I liked and respected him.  

May his love for you and yours for him stay strong in your hearts.

Hello Ken, Dan and Cam. I'm sorry for the loss of your father. I want to share some memories from the past. I remember when we were kids, about nine or ten years old having a sleep over in your family camper which was parked in your driveway. Your father came out to check on us and Cam complained that Dan was passing too much gas. How did he respond? He said simply, "All the more enjoyable!" I remember your father was a health nut, even in the 1960's, and was a member of Vic Tannys. My father referred to him as Slim Jim. I remember all of our parents dancing to Burt Bacharach music in our living room. I remember coming to visit as a teen, and your father calling me "Night Train Lane" or "how insane, it's Lane."  There are many things I remember that I could write about, but it would take all day. Your father will be missed by many, including me. All of you please remember the good stuff. Take care.
