

Reunited in God’s kingdom with her husband of 59 years, Franciszek. Born in Radomsko, Poland on June 24, 1930. Janina and Franciszek were married in Pacanow, Poland in 1949. They lived in Slupia where they started their family before they moved to Poznan. In 1978, they emigrated to Canada living in Hamilton, Grimsby and Stoney Creek. Janina’s spiritual faith was the foundation of overcoming obstacles in life.
Beloved Mom will be deeply missed by her children Anne (Kazik) Watroba, Krystyna (Stefan) Macanowicz, Teresa (George) Styrna and Leszek (Teresa) Kucemba who will all cherish her love, strong family values, and strength. With thanks to God for her long life, they will always love and miss you.

Janina, a proud grandmother, found great joy in the accomplishments of her grandchildren.
The family will treasure memories of social gatherings, family celebrations, baking and making pierogi together, dancing, playing cards and rummikub. Janina’s door was always open for friends and family.
Janina was blessed with a beautiful voice and sang in the Symfonia Choir in Hamilton for many years. She was a member of the Polish Alliance Group 22 and President of the Ladies Circle in Grimsby. Her involvement in the polish community led to Janina inspiring the opening of Polish School Grimsby which several of her grandchildren attended.
For the past two years, Janina resided at Deer Park Villa, Grimsby quickly making many friends. Special thanks to the dedicated staff for their love and care of Janina, and the compassion shown to the family.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Markey-Dermody Funeral Home at 1774 King St E., in Hamilton. Visitation Wednesday, December 17 from 6 to 9 p.m., with Rosary at 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St Stanislaus Polish Catholic Church, 8 St Ann St., Hamilton on Thursday, December 18 at 11 a.m. A livestream link for the Funeral Service can be found below in the "Services" section.
Following cremation, Janina will be laid to rest with her husband, Franciszek in Pacanow, Poland at a later date.
She is now reunited with her brothers, Rajmund (October 1987) and Mieczyslaw (April 2025) and parents Maria and Marcin Sliski. Janina will be lovingly remembered by family and friends in Poland and Canada.
