Passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10, 2015 in her 92nd year at Riverside Glen, Guelph, Ontario. She will be forever loved and fondly remembered by her sons John and Cam (Susan), by her grandchildren Matthew and Jessica and her surviving brother Walter (Doris). She was predeceased by the love of her life, Dr. John W. Faris in 2001, by her beloved granddaughter Brenna in 2005 and her brother Andrew (Dora). Jean lived a long and wonderful life full of friends, family, travel and the arts, especially music. After graduating high school in Brantford where she grew up, she headed to Toronto to work in Premier George Drew's office. After she and Jack married and moved to Hamilton, she took great joy in raising her two sons. Once her boys got older, she headed back into the work force as the personal assistant to Boris Brott, conductor of the Hamilton Philharmonic and then finished her working career as the right hand woman to several General Managers of Hamilton Place. At a retirement celebration on the stage of Hamilton Place, she made sure to mention in her speech "while this is all very nice, I'm only retiring because you made me, since I'm 65!" Classic Jean! In addition, she contributed her time and passion to the Junior League of Hamilton Burlington, the Hamilton Art Gallery and the Medical Wives of Hamilton among others. A Celebration of Jean’s life will be held at MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford Ave.), Hamilton (905-528-6303), on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, treat yourself to a live Theatre production or a Musical Concert and think of Jean.
