Jean Norma Hewitson (nee Pereira)

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother in her 95th year on April 11, 2020. She will be reunited with her amazing husband Thomas after 36 years. She is predeceased by her parents William Pereira and Janet Waterston and siblings; William Pereira, Richard Pereira, Edna Huffman, Norman Pereira (dec.1927), Frances Hopkins. She is the loving Mother of Shirley (Rockne Skingley), Norma (Rick Beswetherick), Tom (Jackie Mori) and Carol (Bob McMenemy deceased.) Also a loving Grandma of 8 grandchildren, Brad (Susan), Julie (Mario), Shawn (Shirley), Scott (Rebecca), Andrea (Nicola), Dana (Keith), Collin and Carey (Aaron). She is a cherished Great-Grandma of 12 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild. Mom enjoyed trips with her friends from the YWCA to Casinos and bus mystery tours. Her passion was singing, especially at church, her lunches with the girls at Jackson Square and of course our “Good Friday’s hikes”. We wish to thanks Macassa Lodge as well as Aberdeen Gardens and Juravinski Hospital staff for their devoted care and kindness. Due to restrictions of COVID-19 there will be no visitation: however a private funeral will be held for immediate family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
