Jeanette Cooke

June 12, 1936February 19, 2021

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Jeanette (Jenny) Cooke on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Arbour Creek Long-term Care Centre in her 85th year.

Survived by her sons Dennis, Bruce (Suzanne), and Paul (Michelle). Predeceased by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Cooke; brothers Michael, John, Peter, Fred and Robert; sisters Anne and Lena; nephew Peter Jr. She leaves behind her sisters Lucy Migus and Rosalie Yaremko, along with many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

She will be fondly remembered as the quintessential neighbourhood Mom to many of her sons' friends as well, affectionately known by others as "Grandma Cooke". Jeanette was a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Vladimir, an active member of the Ladies Auxillary-Lesia Ukrainka Branch, and the Delta Alumni Association.

The family would like to thank the staff on F5 at Juravinski Hospital, 4th Floor at Arbour Creek and Gary Blake for all their care and support of Jeanette during these past months.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday February 24th, 2021. Everyone is invited to watch the online livestream of the funeral at 11 a.m. on Jeanette’s webpage at www.marlattfhhamilton.com and clicking on “Join Livestream” under the Service section of the webpage. Private interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations to the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Vladimir’s, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice, would be appreciated.

Dear Cooke family,

Sending sincere condolences on the loss of Jeannette.

We remember her fondly as a very kind neighbour and a person who had such patience for us and our friends when we hung out in the hallways and on the back stoop of our building.

May your memories bring you comfort in this difficult time.

Fondly,
Barbara Whittaker

On behalf of UWAC Lesia Ukrainka, Hamilton Branch, please accept our deepest sympathy. Jenny was a cherished member who will be fondly remembered. Jenny was always willing to help whenever she could. She ensured we always had the supplies we needed for our pyrohy bees, accompanied by chocolates for our breaks. We will always remember Jenny's sunny disposition and her happy smile. May her family be comforted at this difficult time with many happy memories.

May her memory be eternal.
Vichnaya Pamyat.

Bob & Jeanette were our greatest friends for over 40 years. Our lives feel very empty with them both gone now. (so many fun escapades together) But... we're so happy they're back together again.
Our children also loved them very deeply (an extra set of parents). Our grandchildren loved Jeanette to the endth degree as well. They didn't get to know Bob but couldn't have loved Grandma Cooke more.

Lots of love & peace to the boys & both of her sisters. We will always be here for you. Hugs

I had the privilege of working with Jeanette for several years on the Delta Alumni Association Executive. Jeanette had strong views on a number of causes, particularly for the benefit of disadvantaged students.

Saddened to hear about this. Jeanette was a founding member of the Delta Alumni Association and was instrumental in organizing the annual honourary social event that we had held every May until the school closed in June 2019. She was very passionate and supportive of various events over the 18 years of our existence and always made sure that her voice was heard on issues of interest which was greatly appreciated. She was part of the Delta family and will be missed.
My condolences to the family.

Delta Alumni Association
