I was heartbroken to find out Joan had passed. I knew her from Upper Ottawa Physio. She was my therapist for 15+ yrs. But more, she was a wonderful friend and mentor. She always made me laugh. I taught her how to upload pictures from her camera and how to save them. She always had a little something for my daughter, a book, a little trinket or a jewelry box. She never let me quit.
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. She will be missed greatly and I will think of her every day. RIP my friend. You can rest now.

Thanks to everyone for all you have done these past few months.Darryl,Tyler,Joey and myself would not have been able to get through this if it where not for my moms great group of friends. I know everyone misses her as much as we do since she was a big part of everyone's life.

Dear Joan, l sit here tonight, a month since your passing, continuing to miss you.  I can't pick up the phone and say hi or plan our next outing or listen to your messages outlining your itinerary for the week. Of course every call ended with God Bless. It's an empty feeling and a sense that something's missing. St. Patrick's day was not the same without you. I know that you are most likely re-organizing heaven, keeping everyone socially active and spreading your sunshine.  I miss it here on earth.  I remember the laughs, the Italian lessons, the Irish lessons, the Skype lessons, the walks, the talks, the Irish bread, the Snooker, the stories and the plans. You touched alot of people and one of them was me.  Thanks for being such a good friend.  You leave big shoes to fill and a left a lasting footprint in the lives of many.  God Bless you Joan, take care and Oiche Mhaith (sleep well). I will travel to Ireland this fall as planned, knowing that you will be with me in spirit.  God Bless.

Joan, I Just Got The Sad News From 'Auntie' Manju - I'm So Shocked I'm Like Still Feeling Very Raw. Thank You For Giving Me The 'Grand Tour' Of Hamilton Last Year and I Won't Forget How You Kept Us So Busy - You Were Like The Road Runner and We're Just Trying To Catch Up!!!  You're Irish Personality Was Refreshing, Like A Spring Shower In The 'Old Country'. Your Constant Travels To Ireland and Elsewhere Was Something I Envied, I Mean You Were THE Constant Traveler and I Loved You For The Fact That When You Were Going...YOU WERE GOING!  I Have Many More Tales To Say But Auntie and I Will Chat About Later On. The Last Time I Chatted With You Was Only Eight Weeks Ago, As You Were Excited When I Told You I Was Coming Back To Canada In May, 2012. I Was Looking Forward To Going To The Haunted House With You and Auntie (and Karan) but We Will Still Go In Your Memory. I Still Have The 'Traveling Saint' Charm In My Wallet from Last Year, and Intend To Keep It With Me At All Times. I Can't Believe You're Gone (Boom, Just Like That) - But, My Memories Spending Time With You Will Always Be Fresh. Jesus Needed You and Brought You Home To Heaven. We just learned about Joan's passing and felt quite shocked. Joan was a wonderful work colleague and friend during our time at Chedoke Hospital Rehabilitation centre. She was a great mentor and support all those years and will be sorely missed. Our thoughts go out to Sara, Darryl, Tyler and Joey during this very difficult time.

Joan will be greatly missed by the Theatre Aquarius volunteer community. She was one of our best-always gracious, always giving. She was sassy and wise and giver of the most marvelous mischievous winks known to mankind! She made my job so much easier and so much more enjoyable. Good night, Joan.

Heartfelt sympathy to Sara, Darryl, Tyler and Joey.  You more than anyone know just how special Joan (Sunshine) was and is.  From early childhood we were close friends - how blessed we are that our friendship has been lifelong.  Apart from her profession, time with family and friends, Sunshine has spent so much time helping and encouraging others, just like her mother, Aileen. 
We all have cherished memories of Joan - she is a part of many of our lives.  Her mother was right when she called her the Sunshine in her life.

I met Joan first when I was at college and worked as a summer student in Canada .I stayed with Joan and Doug and Sara and still remember the wonderful warm hospitality with which she welcomed me into her home.It was great to see her again in Donegal with Tyler and Joey over the last couple of summers.

It's quite unbelievable to think that such a person so full of life and laughter has died. Joan was such a wonderful friend to our family for so many years. I always remember us, as children, nearly bursting with excitement at the thought of "Joanie the Pony " coming to stay with us.She was as glamorous as she was warm and she singled out everyone of us and made each of us feel so special right through our childhood and into our adult years. To say she was a friend of the Hunters doesn't quite describe it as we felt honoured that Joan was like a part of our family, always there with her beautiful smile,sense of fun and her wise words. Her pride when introducing her lovely grandsons to Ireland was obvious to all and her eyes would light up when she saw them. I can imagine that so many people will miss her here and in Canada as she was such a caring person.  We will feel that the world is a darker place without Sunshine.

To the family of Joan....I had met Joan through my physio sessions at Upper Ottawa Physiotherapy centre. She was always prfoessional, very concerned and caring towards your rehabilitaion. Always looked forward to seeing her. Later on in the years, I was happily surprised to have seen her as a volunteer at Theatre Aquarius. Once again, still giving of herself.
