May 29, 1940 – April 25, 2021
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and papa ; John Bremner on April 25, 2021 in his 81st year.
Survived by his beloved Wife Reneé , very proud Father of Shannon and devoted Papa to Braden. John is predeceased by his infant son Jevon, parents Joanne & Alexander Bremner, brothers Alan and Fr. Alexander Bremner. John married his teenage Irish sweetheart Reneé and together they emigrated to Canada and were married for 58 years. John worked hard for his family and loved them very much. John was a stage four Lung Cancer Survivor who fought the good fight but was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in the end and was too tired to fight. He was a very good soccer player and played for Burlington and many other teams. His grandson Braden was the love of his life and he was sorry he couldn’t teach him how to play soccer due to his illness. He also coached youth soccer for many years and played tennis and racket ball throughout the years. John worked as a Supervisor for Baycoat where he retired after 36 years. He enjoyed his twice yearly trips to the condo in Myrtle Beach which we did for 40 years with his wife. John was an McMaster Alumni who received his Certified Administrative Manager Diploma. John was awarded the Distinguished Award for Major Contributions by the Hamilton Sports Council three times. John was a huge Celtic & Toronto Maple Leaf supporter.
Special thanks to the Juravinski Hospital for all their excellent care over the years especially Dr. J Goffen , Cheryl, Dr. Kim McCallum who went above and beyond in the last 4 years for John. Donations can be made to the Cancer Assistance Program in John’s memory. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Played fitba with John for many years with Hamilton Sparta. John was one the best players that I have ever played with. He was a true class act and a gentleman. He gave a lot of his time to play and then run Sparta. I was truly blessed to have known him. My sincere condolences to Renne, Shannon and Braden. From the Davren family.

So sorry to hear of John's passing. He will be sadly missed by his friends and especially by his loving Family. My late Husband, Tommy McGuire & John were good friends and always enjoyed talking sports together (both being avid Celtic supporters).
My sincere sympathy to Renee, Shannon & Braden.

Knew John as a young player with Hamilton Sparta and when I coached for many years at Sparta. Always a class act, quick with a smile and a keen eye for Fitba! Very sorry to hear. Condolences.

John and Reneé were the cool couple living in a fancy apt , the Argyle ,on Barton st in ‘67 ...Bert and I were gonna aspire to that someday ...We played with John on the Hamilton Apollo’s with many other characters and the laughter and language is too profane to repeat hear but is forever engraved in my memory !
Bert , is retired and living in Nova Scotia and has asked me to include him in this little memory and convey our sadness to Reneé and to you Shannon

My condolences to all the family members of John at this sad time.
I worked at Baycoat in Stoney Creek from 1979 to 1989 and John was my supervisor for most of those years.
John was the epitome of a true gentleman.
He was always willing to stop by and say hi, have a chat, share a story, and enjoy a laugh or three.
He was always extremely fair with myself and anybody else I worked with at the time.
Wonderful person who will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and yes even those who knew him from Baycoat.
RIP John ❤️🙏
