

John was born to the late Kathleen and Edward McGauchie. Beloved husband of Joan for 62 years. Father of Kathy and Craig. Grandfather of Cassandra, Jessika, Kaitlyn, Taylor and Connor. Great grandfather of Amelie, Juniper and Coraline.
John was one of 7 children. He is predeceased by brothers Bill and Eddie, and sisters Kathleen and Pat. He leaves behind brothers Derek and Michael, and sisters-in-law Jean and Mary. John is also survived by his in-laws; Anne, Ray (Pauline), Danny (Sylvia), Lorne (Heather), Peggy (Roger), Brian (Rosemary) and Elaine (Michael) as well as many nieces and nephews.
John was born in Clydebank, Scotland on January 3, 1939. The war was threatening so the family moved to Annan for safety. He emigrated to Toronto in 1958 and finally to Hamilton in 1960. He married Joan in 1962 and worked for Stelco for 35 years. John was an avid sports fan who loved football and hockey. He was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs as well as the Hamilton Tiger Cats. Although he loved all different sports his greatest love was soccer. He played in Scotland as a child and continued to play in Hamilton for the British Imperial Club. He loved travelling to Florida as well as enjoying cruises with his wife during retirement.

Cremation has taken place per John's request and a Memorial Service will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Wednesday, March 19th at 11:00 AM.
