Hobson, Josephine (nee Jepson) known as Jo or Josie, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning the 10th day of August, 2019. Her passing comes one week before her 62nd wedding anniversary to her surviving husband Gerald (Gerry) Hobson. Josie was the mother of 7 kids: David, Donna (deceased at age 15 months) Patti, Doug, Marianne, Sandra and Val and Grandmother to Ally, Andy, Cody, Melissa, Cassie, Mathew, Aaron, Chantal, Rachel, Ryan, Austin and Mikey and step Grandmother/Great Grandmother to Shawn, Chris, Jordy, Kimberly, Courtney, Daniel, Noah, Tabitha, Declan, Evelyn, Tara, Caine and Nyasia. Josie was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario. Josie worked as a bookkeeper in the early years at Westinghouse but gave up her career to raise her children. She loved kids and was very active in the Home and School Association as well as Parent Volunteer at Stinson Street School for many years. She was a Block Parent for as long as anyone can remember and later worked at St. Peter’s Day Care. Her selflessness had no bounds and her generosity was even greater. Josie’s compassion and main focus in life was her family. Keeping that family bond was her main goal all through her life and it has successfully been passed on to her kids. Gerry and Jo’s family, friends and their children’s friends will always remember the open door policy at the Hobson’s house on Christmas Eve. Right up to the day of Josie’s passing she always had a smile on her face, never cursed and always asked how you were doing without wanting to burden others with how she was doing. She will be sadly missed by family and friends alike. Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home located at 322 Fennell Ave E, Hamilton, on Friday August 16,2019 between 2:00 and 4:00PM and 6:00 and 8:00 PM and Services will be held Saturday, August 17,2019 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation in Josephine Hobson’s name.

I have been a part of the Hobson family for almost 30 years and Josie was more than a mother-in-law to me, she was also a friend. She always dealt with everything life handed her with humour and a positive spin and never judged anyone. The kindness towards anyone and everyone is very much a part of Doug and our children and I have her to thank for that. Having Gerry and Josie visit us in Scotland and sharing her return to her beloved England childhood residence was a highlight that I will always cherish. It was so nice being able to have them all to ourselves (selfishly) and explore a country for the first time with them. The laughs and memories are forever etched in my heart.
I will always love and remember her fondly and it saddens my heart to say good bye.

Goodbye cousin,
How I miss our conversations over the years. You and Gerry were substitute parents when my Dad died.I remember the toy box you had so that there was always something to play with, even before most of the kids were born, although I think you might have got that from your Dad. It was over sixty years after all and memories change. It is so very hard to say goodbye.
Much love always,
Cheb

My heart goes out to you, Hobson children in the loss of a special, kind and loving mother. She was always patient, understanding and had time for everyone. Gerry , you have my deepest sympathy. Jo helped me so much in my years at Stinson School, not only in the classroom but in the kitchen of the Erie Ave home. I will always cherish her friendship. Rest in Peace, my friend.

Erie Avenue was a thriving hub, consisting of the many families who resided there, raised their children there, grew old there and occasionally there were those that stayed for a shorter time. The Hobson family were a fixture on Erie. Mrs Hobson was always a warm and giving woman. Her and Mr. Hobson raised great children which is a testament to them both....but I suspect at the core of it all was Mrs. Hobson .
I am sending much love and healing energy to all of you during this heartbreaking time. May all your wonderful memories help to ease the great loss you're experiencing. RIP
