Juozas Astas

Passed away peacefully at Queens Gardens on April 7th, 2015 in his 93rd year. Predeceased by loving parents Jurgis and Anelė (Želvytė) Astašauskas and sister in law Genovaite Astašauskas. Survived by brother Jonas Astašauskas, nephew Kęstutis, and niece Danutė in Lithuania. Juozas provided his loving health care and pleasant smile for 31 years to the patients at the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital. He was a life long member of Our Lady of Mercy Lithuanian Parish and a fervent supporter of Roman Catholic clergy worldwide. He will be missed by many community members who had the fortune of being touched by his presence. Special thanks to Drifa and the entire third floor health care staff at Queen’s Gardens for their loving care. Visitation will be at MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 615 Main Street East (east of Sanford), Hamilton, on Thursday, April 9th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Rosary on Thursday at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Mercy Lithuanian Church, 58 Dundurn St. N., Hamilton on Friday, April 10th, 2015 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at St. John’s Lithuanian Cemetery in Mississauga. Donations in Juozas’ memory to the Lithuanian Children’s Relief Fund would be appreciated.
