After more than forty years on her own, Lil will now be reunited with her husband Herman. Lil was blessed with and is deeply loved by her sons Russ (Dale), Glen (Heather) and Lorne (Kathy); her grandchildren Jason (Pam), Katie, Drew (Meaghan), Nicole, Adam (Tianna), Sarah, Nathan, Jonathan (Natalie); and great-grandchildren Sabrina and Ryder. Lil is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was an active and engaged grandma, a prolific reader and would never turn down an invitation and would always be one of the last to leave. She was a passionate supporter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, never missing a game or event. She put family first and was fully involved in everyone’s lives. She loved to discuss books, travel and of course, what time her beloved Blue Jays were playing. She was very grateful to her nieces and nephews who came to visit her at home. The family extends sincere gratitude to her caregivers: Aida, Maelyn, Paloma and Myah and Zyhab. Special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Juravinski emergency for their care and support.
Visitation will take place at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King St E, Hamilton, on Tuesday September 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with Prayers at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, 287 Plains Rd E, Burlington on September 11 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in Lil’s memory to the charities she supported for so many years: Good Shepherd Hamilton or Ronald McDonald House Hamilton.
