April 5, 1940-Aug. 17, 2022
Passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital after a long journey with rheumatoid arthritis. Loved sister of Bill (Mary) and Lorna Simpson (Doug d-May 2022) of Ottawa and loving stepmother to Valerie and Dwayne. "Beautiful" Aunt to Scott (Cindy), Lori (Geoff), Holly (Jerry d-2021), Heather (Russ), Billy (Jaimie) and "Great" Aunt to Jillian. Justine, Emma, Olivia, Abbey, Noah, Lily, Toby, Ally, Hazel, and Ewan.
Predeceased by her Dad William (1974) and her beloved Mother Myrtle (2007) who Loretta cared for in her final years. Also predeceased last year by her faithful friend Edna.
Survived by her Aunt Dorothy in Mount Forest who still at 90 would call Loretta to see how she was. Also survived by many cousins with special mention to cousin John who would call every week to talk to keep Loretta's spirits up.
Loretta was a people person who kept up with family members and friends from way back. She was in contact with a cousin Vera out west who unknown to most of us was keeping Loretta's spirits up with mail and pictures and also flowers on her return to St. Peter's the end of June!
Thanks to Janice (Barry) Loretta's childhood friend who was a steadfast listener to Loretta to the end and also to her friend Joan and husband Dan who visited when they could.
Also many thanks to Loretta's New Westminister Presbyterian friends especially Karen (Greg), Norma and Rev. Sandy.
So many friends and family that she kept up with; so thank you to all of you!
Unfortunately, Loretta's last few years happened in covid times which made visiting her and keeping up with her very hard but it didn't keep her from dressing up every day and putting on her favourite jewelry! Special thanks to Valerie and Karen for keeping Loretta happy and up to date in fashion and accessories! The family appreciate the excellent compassionate care that she has received at St. Peters over the last 3 years. In that time Loretta also was in Aberdeen Gardens for over a year before she returned to St. Peter's. Thank you to the kindness shown Loretta while she was there. If you wish, a donation in Loretta's memory to St. Peter's Hospital or a thank you to a health care worker would be appreciated. They have worked hard in very trying times!
Loretta requested no funeral but we hope to have a private get together at a later date to say a little goodbye to a loved one who was a big part of our family life!!
