Beloved wife of the late Brian Matchett, Peggy was a devoted mother to Taralynn and her husband, Ivan. She will be deeply missed by her cherished granddaughters, Dalilah and Delaney, who were her pride and joy.
Peggy is predeceased by her loving parents, Faye and Arthur Hachey. She was a dear sister to Shirley Hovey (the late Walt), Brenda Sorensen (the late Ivan), Art (the late Sharon), Rick (Lori), Kevin (Marion), and Bobby (Joan). She is fondly remembered by Silas (Jackie), Kenny (Darlene), Karlene Jones (the late Bob) all of New Brunswick. Peggy was also predeceased by her brothers Roy, brother-in-law John Guitard and her sister-in-law Marjorie Wright (the late Bob). She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be fondly remembered by her cousin and dear friend Noreen Giannini and her hand chosen daughters, Trish Sergi and Josi Paladino.
Known for her kind heart and unwavering support, Peggy brought warmth and joy to everyone she met. Whether it was sharing treats with her granddaughters, enjoying tea in the GT Boutique parking lot while people watching, or listening intently to others during long phone calls, she always made time for the people she loved. She was a pillar of strength and a safe haven for anyone in need, often serving as the "get-away driver" for lunch adventures with her granddaughters and their friends.
Peggy’s family is profoundly grateful to Able Living, Ontario Health at Home, and the Dialysis Centre at King Street for their exceptional care over the years. Special thanks go to Dr. Craig Ainsworth and Dr. Richard Whitlock, who fought so hard for Peggy and whose dedication and compassion will never be forgotten. The family also extends heartfelt thanks to the teams at St. Joseph’s Healthcare (Emergency Department, Nephrology Unit, ICU and MSDU) and Hamilton General Hospital (CCU and ICU), who provided extraordinary support during Peggy’s final days.
Friends and family are invited to gather at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East, on Tuesday, January 28th, from 4 – 8 p.m. Details for a Celebration of Life will be shared at a later date.
In honor of Peggy’s memory, donations to the St. Joseph’s Dialysis Program (King Campus) would be deeply appreciated.
