MOSCA Maria Antonia (nee Antonucci): In her 87th year, Maria was called to Heaven on December 28, 2021 joining her husband Antonio. Beloved mother of Lucy, Angelo (Patricia) and Nancy (John Catalano). Loving Nonna of Daniel, Matthew, Domenic and Natalia. She will be missed by sisters Lina and Ralph Caruso, Assunta and Salvatore DiGennaro, (late) Vince and Nancy Antonucci of Hamilton, Celina and Antonio Barbieri, Ida and Aldo Simioni of Italy. Maria will also be fondly remembered by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends in Canada and Italy. Maria was born in the small town of San Donato di Ninea, Cosenza, Calabria on March 11, 1935 to Ralph and Maria (nee Borelli) Antonucci. She came to Canada in 1955 and became a proud Canadian citizen. In 1963, Maria met Antonio, the love of her life and they married in 1964. She was a talented seamstress and spent many years working at Cambridge Clothes and Fell-Fab Products, until her retirement. She shared 45 years of marriage until Antonio’s passing in 2009, but he lived forever in her heart. Maria loved to cook, give advice (whether we wanted to hear or not), tell stories about Italy, growing up and all the people she has met in her lifetime – with great detail. She believed in spending quality time with her family – especially her grandchildren (her “amore di Nonna”). She was a very proud woman who deeply believed in Catholic family values and was the most optimistic and positive person you would ever meet – even during her battle with cancer. There are no words that can truly describe what she meant to all of us. A special thank you to Dr. Som Mukherjee at Juravinski Cancer Centre for his kind and compassionate care throughout the past 6 years. His dedication enabled Maria to extend her time to make loving memories with her family for which we are forever grateful. Thank you also to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Juravinski Hospital Emergency Room and Ward C3. Your thoughtful and considerate care during Maria’s illness is appreciated. Thank you to Dr. Matteo Castelluzzo for his many years of care. Thank you to Perry Stefani for your support and friendship through the years.
