IN THE CARE OF
Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel
Marie passed away at home on Wednesday May 4th in the presence of her daughter Margaret and son in law, Chris Ranalli.
She was 96 years old and was predeceased by her husband Julius and brother Frank Molnar.
Marie came to Canada from Romania at the age of 21, having escaped the war in Europe. Like so many at that time, she arrived speaking no English and without any family. She quickly began work at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the kitchen. It was there that she met her future husband, Julius.
They married in April 1952 and looked forward to raising a family in the country that offered them a new start on life. As fate would have it, their daughter Margaret wasn’t born until 1964. Marie spent the next 12 years raising her and retired from work in 1990.
Marie’s vegetable and flower gardens were her passion; she spent many enjoyable hours outside tending to them. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren: Matthew, Kristen and Sarah. She loved spending time with them, and cherished the opportunity to see them grow up. Despite losing her vision many years ago she was determined to remain in her own home and live independently. She did so until she left us Wednesday night. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Grieci for her wonderful care. Also, a big thank you to the staff from Bayshore, especially nurse Katarina and PSW Florence. At her request no funeral will be held and cremation has taken place.
Now reunited with her husband Julius who she greatly missed since June 1985 . . . Rest in peace together
