He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Anna, his cherished children Josie, Sante (Ennita), and Susie (Vasil), and the five granddaughters who were the light of his life: Anna, Daniella, Adriana, Gabriella, and Giulia. He is reunited with his parents, Vincenzo and Giuseppina, and will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Tony (Mary), Assunta ‘Sue’, Mike, and Maria (Dave), as well as many in laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Mario was born on June 13, 1951, in Melito Irpino, Avellino, Italy. In 1967, he immigrated with his family to Hamilton where he built a life rooted in dedication, craftsmanship, and love.
Over the years, Mario became a licensed welder and later a skilled bricklayer whose hands helped shape countless homes across the city. He went on to spend 30 years at Stelco, working in many departments and earning the respect of his coworkers through his honesty, work ethic, and deep knowledge.
Mario had a lifelong passion for classic cars and could often be found at car shows, proudly sharing stories about his treasured 1966 and 1969 Corvettes—cars he rebuilt with care and never once allowed the rain to touch. He found joy in the simple, grounding rituals of life: digging his garden by hand each spring, tending to his greenhouse, and growing vegetables and flowers with the same patience and pride he brought to everything he did. The outdoors was his sanctuary—sun on his face, warm breeze at his back, and the quiet satisfaction of a day spent doing what he loved.
Above all, Mario was a devoted husband, father, and Nonno. His greatest happiness came from the family he and Anna built together. He loved them fiercely, celebrated their milestones, and created memories that will be held close for generations.
Mario’s legacy lives on in the laughter of his granddaughters, the strength of his children, the love of his wife, and the countless moments—big and small—that he gifted to those fortunate enough to know him.
