

He is survived by his loving wife Elene Witter of 54 years. Adored father of George, Kirk and Erica (Patrick). Beloved Brother to Windsor, Huldah, Portia, Joan and Winnie. Adored Grandfather to Isaiah, Joshua, Chloe and Cameron. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Clarissa Witter, brothers John and Winston and sisters Kay, Pearl and Monica.
Mervin worked in Goderich, Ontario as a police officer for many years reaching the rank of a sergeant. In 1989, Mervin was hired by the Canadian Government in the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and held the position of Director of the Ontario Region. Mervin held this position until his retirement from the Public Service in 2008. He was an active member of Emmanuel united Church at 871 Upper Ottawa St. in Hamilton.Mervin loved gardening and enjoyed volunteering for the Canadian Athletic Association and Local Track Clubs as a starter.
Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Friday, August 27th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Pre-registration is not required for visitation, masks and contact tracing will be in effect. Due to capacity restrictions the Funeral Service will be by invitation only.
