

HINSPERGER, Monsignor Daniel Robert - After a life well-lived, I announce my death on July 16, 2015 at the age of 73. With the usual regrets of humanity, I pass into everlasting life to join my parents, Jerome and Florence (Doerr). I am also predeceased by infant brother Donald, and sisters Marilyn (Don) Mann, and Patricia (Frank) Kenkel. As the last remaining member of my family, I leave to mourn, 13 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews and still more great-great nieces and nephews. I was born in Hespeler, now Cambridge, May 24, 1942. My early education was in Cambridge, Resurrection College in Kitchener and St. Peter's Seminary, London. I was ordained to the Priesthood for the Diocese of Hamilton on May 8, 1971 at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King. As Associate Pastor, I served in Holy Rosary Parish, Burlington; St. John the Baptist, Hamilton; Regina Mundi, Hamilton; and St. Ann's in Ancaster. I was Chaplain at St. Thomas More High School, Hamilton in the late '70s and pro tem Chancellor for the Diocese. I was Pastor at St. John the Baptist, Hamilton; founding Pastor of St. Mark's Parish in Kitchener and finally at St. Luke's in Hamilton. I had the honour of being named Monsignor by Pope Francis in 2014. Over the years, I have served on the Boards of Directors for the Good Shepherd and the Catholic Children's Aid Society; numerous positions in the Diocese and finally as Chair of the Ex Corde Foundation. I express my appreciation to all I have met and with whom I have served over these many years. My funeral arrangements are as follows: Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Markey Dermody Funeral Home 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) in Hamilton from 2-9pm and it will continue at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 200 Mount Albion Road in Hamilton on Monday, July 20, 2015 from 2-9pm with Vigil Prayers on Monday at 8pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Parish on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Monsignor Hinsperger’s memory to St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church would be greatly appreciated.
