Morris Raymond Phillips

A loving husband, father, Papa, and friend, Morris lived a life defined by courage, strength, and perseverance. Born on July 2, 1957, in Winchester, Ontario, to Denzil Phillips and Theresa Hopkins, he later spent his teenage years in Ottawa—years he often spoke of fondly. It was there that the Martins became family, and where he met the love of his life, Darlene.

Morris was overjoyed by the warmth, love, and acceptance he received from the entire Rivett family, who welcomed him as their own. He spent many years as a dedicated and hardworking employee with Canada Pipe in Hamilton, Ontario, and was also deeply valued by his Costco family, whose friendships meant a great deal to him and Darlene.

Despite enduring chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and a courageous battle with cancer, Morris—known affectionately as “Moe”—never wavered in his love and devotion to his family and friends.

He was a devoted and loving husband to Darlene Phillips for 47 years; a cherished father to Keith Phillips and Brent Phillips (Melissa); and a proud and doting Papa to his grandson. Morris was also a beloved son-in-law to Dorothy Millions, brother-in-law to Gerry Millions, and to Nancy Millions (predeceased), as well as a treasured friend to many who became family.

Moe took great pride in his home and was deeply grateful to live in a neighborhood filled with kind and wonderful people. He found joy in weekly fishing trips with Bill Bell, helping others whenever he could, cheering on his beloved Bruins and Bills, and spending his days exploring alongside Darlene. Morris will be forever loved and deeply missed by Darlene, his family, his Costco family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He will be remembered for his generosity, empathy, and unwavering love for family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
