Murray Francis Hanmer

Hanmer, Murray Francis (Nov 5, 1930 – Nov 21, 2010) – passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday November 21st 2010 at St. Peter’s Hospital in his 81st year. Son of the late Alvin and Isobel Hanmer of Barrie, ON. Murray leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Geraldine (nee Walker). Predeceased by his son John Edwin (2000), he was a loving father of eight, grandfather of fourteen and great grandfather of six. Murray was a retired Inspector with the Hamilton Police Service after an esteemed 35 year career. He will be missed by many dear friends and colleagues. A special thanks to Murray’s family Randy and Trish Maxim, Karla Hanmer, Wade and Cathi Griffin, and Paul Hanmer for their loyalty and love in their father’s last days. Visitation will be held at Cresmount Funeral Home 322 Fennell Ave. East, Hamilton, on Wednesday November 24th from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday November 25th at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 11 Wilson St. West, Ancaster at 11:00 a.m. The Rite of Committal will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
