Peacefully with family by her side on January 8th, 2011 in her 97th year. Born on March 20, 1914 to parents Thomas and Agnes Popek, in Elkhorn, Manitoba. Nellie moved to Hamilton in 1944. She is predeceased by her first husband Joseph Hader (1974) and by her second husband John Jaskula. Gentle and loving mother of Dr. Walter Hader (Sr.) (Mary), Helen Hruska (John), Betty Hader and the late Margaret & John Juras. Loving grandmother of Joe (Sharon), the late Bernard Paul, Joanne (Wade), Catherine (Frank), Dr. Walter Jr. (Michelle), Steven (Ann), Susan (Nick) and Michael (Kim) and great grandmother of Sarah, Jeffrey, Carson, Spencer, Nathalie, Jonathan, Nathan, Francesca, Paige, Peyton, Matthew, and Maia. Loving sisters, Sophie McLaren and Kay Malles were always there for Nellie. Special memories of companion Ted Wiechrowski. Predeceased by her brothers Joseph, Frank, Stanley, Michael and John Popek and by her sister Mary Leam. Cherished aunt of Carol, Michael, Patricia, Frankie, Darrel and Kevin and great aunt of Lindsay, Michael, Robbie and Sarah, Cole, Jake, Kate, Ryan, Krista, Kerri, Kody, Kaela, Keaton and Karolyn. Great, great, great aunt of Zachary. Sister-in-law to Jackie Popek. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. A heartfelt thanks to Helen, John, Susan and John Grant for their special care. Nellie was a long-time member of the Rosary Society of St. Stanislaus, The Catholic Women's league of St. Stanislaus and the Women's Auxiliary, Branch 315 of the Canadian Polish Legion. Her family will receive friends at the TRUSCOTT, BROWN & DWYER FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1309 King St. E. on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. with Rosary on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Nellie's life will be held at St. Stanislaus Polish Catholic Church, 8 St. Ann St. on Thursday at 10 a.m. with interment following in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
