OBITUARY

Patricia "Kay" Kathryn Laverty

December 29, 1929 – September 3, 2025
Obituary of Patricia "Kay" Kathryn Laverty
IN THE CARE OF

Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Kathryn (Kay) Laverty (nee Brownlee) at 95 years, on September 3rd, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years Patrick (2000), her son Patrick Jr. (1999), and her siblings William Brownlee (2006), Margaret Elson (2018) and Marilyn Paton (2020).

Kay leaves behind her loving children: Valerie (Regan Washburn), John (Leonila), Marilyn (Mike Micucci predeceased), Bob, Sharon (Wayne Clark) and daughter-in-law Liz. Kay will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Erika (Dave Fischer), Melina (Andy Perkins), Brian Froud (Cassandra), David Laverty, Michael (Jenna) Clark, Christopher (Jodi) Micucci, Tiffany (Shaun) Iles, Nicholas Micucci (Patricia), Krystal (Mike Myszkowski), Kesten (Liam Dickson), Kaitlin (Mike Ogilvie) and Cooper (Samantha Brown). She will be greatly missed by her brother-in-law Charlie Elson, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Kay will be remembered for her deep love for family and friends, and her compassionate heart.

In her younger years, Kay was a ballet teacher, and her love for dancing never faded. She was often seen dancing through the house to her favourite music while doing every day chores. Her passion for fashion led her to spend many years sewing beautiful garments for herself and others. Kay also had a green thumb, and found great joy in gardening and flower arranging. Her home was always filled with fresh blooms and thriving plants in her garden.

We feel the loss of a vital part of our family and will miss our Mom immensely. We are thankful for the time we had with her and the lasting impact she had on all our lives. We take comfort in knowing she was lovingly welcomed by the many family members and friends who passed before her.

With the tremendous support from her daughter, Sharon, and son-in-law, Wayne, Kay was able to remain at home until passing. The family is thankful to Sharon for being there for our mother, and thankful to Wayne, for also being helpful and so understanding.

The family will be forever indebted to Dr. Thirumoorthi, his staff and Dr. Kaplan who provided exceptional medical support over many years. The care provided by the PSWs and the Palliative Care Outreach Team helping to keep Kay comfortable was much appreciated. We are especially thankful for Kay’s PSW Sanjana, Palliative nurse Raman and Dr. Winemaker for their kindness and compassionate care in her final years.

In accordance with Kay’s wishes, she has been cremated. A private family interment will take place at Mount Hamilton Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Michelangelo’s on Sunday, September 7th from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Those we love don’t go away,

They walk beside us every day,

Unseen, unheard, but always near,

Still loved, still missed and very dear.
