Richard Stanley Chomik

Born in Poland to Jan and Gladys Chomik, Richard immigrated to Canada in the 1940s, where he spent the rest of his life raising a family and building a legacy of hard work, love, and joy.

Predeceased by his past wife Halinka. Richard is survived by his two beloved daughters, Susie Graham (Jim) and Teresa Battaglia, as well as his cherished grandchildren Lacey, Jonny, Bonnie, and Terry (Chelsea). He was a proud great-grandfather to Clairessa, Evan, Logan, Penelope, Tia, and Callan. He will be deeply missed by his dear sister, Janina Lekusz (Henry, predeceased), and by his nieces and nephews, including Christine (Mark) and George (RoseAnn), along with great-nephews James and Thomas. Richard was predeceased by his brother Stanley Chomik and sister Ludwiga Chomik.

Throughout his life, Richard was known for his resilience, his jovial spirit, and his love for dancing. He was a man who always exuded happiness, dressed sharply, and carried himself with grace and dignity. He had a remarkable career that included owning a hotel in London, Ontario, and the "Castle Patio Cafe" Restaurant on Duke Street in Hamilton, Ontario. He also worked as a lift bridge operator and a Long Shoreman at Bayfront in Hamilton. Richard’s work ethic and generosity touched the lives of many, and he will be remembered as a true gentleman.

Richard was a longtime member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Polish Church on Barton Street in Hamilton. Throughout his years there, he was involved with counting money, offering his time and dedication to his church community.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Wellington Nursing Home for their care and kindness during Richard’s final days.

Visitation will be held at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue E. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 10-11am. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11am. Interment to take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Burlington.
