

WILNEFF, Rolande “Babe” With her family by her side, Rolande “Babe” Wilneff passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Villa at the age of 92. Beloved mother of Carole Smith (Gordon), Jeannine Powell (David) of Toronto, ON and Martin Wilneff of Hamilton, ON. Cherished grandmother of Mathew. Dear sister of Dolores Sapinski of Timmins, ON and Roger Brabant (Lois) of Burlington, ON. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Rolande was predeceased by her husband Murray Wilneff, by her sisters Jeannine Brabant and Liliane Hickey and by her brothers Serge and Fernand Brabant. Rolande Blanche Marie Brabant was born on November 29, 1924, in Timmins, Ontario. The middle of 7 children of Antoinette and Ernest de Brabant, she grew up in a close-knit loving family. Upon graduation from Timmins High School, Rolande started her banking career in Timmins in 1941 as a bank teller where she joined what was then The Canadian Bank of Commerce, transferring later to Hamilton. Rolande retired as a lifelong employee from the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in 1989. She was a keen follower of community and political affairs, regularly attended Opera Hamilton and loved to watch her beloved Montreal Canadiens play hockey and travel with family to Las Vegas. As per her request, there will be a prayer service at the niche when Mom is laid to rest close to her dear sister, at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, 600 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington, on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM. The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Joseph’s Villa for their wonderful care; also, a special thank you to Denise. Memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Villa, Dundas would be much appreciated by the family.
